Chef Padua attributes his love for the culinary world with memories of snapping string beans, creating sweet potato pies alongside his mother in the kitchen. Any opportunity that arose for the budding pastry chef …to help his mom in creating a family dish, he was front and center to soak in her culinary teachings. This contributed to his creative juices and he began to fashion up his own recipes for tasty quick bread mixes and assorted fruit cobblers.
Chef Padua has been praised for his work by Vice President Biden, featured on Platinum Weddings and was a competitor on Food Network’s Sweet Genius hosted by famed Pastry Chef, Ron Ben Israel. He won the 2013 Capital Food Fight’s High Stakes Cake Battle in DC, hosted by Duff Goldman, has his own line of gourmet jams, and has provided his sweet delicacies to countless celebrity clientele.
Chef Padua also lends his time and pastry talents to DC Central Kitchen, which trains unemployed adults for culinary careers, serving healthy school meals, and rebuilding urban food systems through social enterprise. Chef Padua has also provided his pastry services for the late Chuck Brown, The God-Father of DC Go-Go music as well as a host of other celebrities, including singer Macy Gray, comedian Bill Bellamy, actress Pam Grier, comedian Damon Wayans, and singer Crystal Waters.
Chef Padua says is best: “I know that folks have many other choices, but when a call comes in with another opportunity, I am thankful. This always reminds me that God does not forsake us and I am right where I am supposed to be with more great things to come.”
